Task 1: The chart shows British emigration to selected destinations between 2004 and 2007. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The provided bar chart presents data on the number of UK citizens who relocate to foreign countries over a three-year period from 2004 to 2007.
Over all, Australia seems to have become the most popular destination, with New Zealand and USA being the least desirable choice.
In five consecutive years, Australia remained the number one choice for British citizens choosing to leave their motherland. In 2006, roughly 52,000 people left the UK and went to Australia. Spain was the next most desirable country, and 2005 saw the highest number of British emigrants at just under 35,000. France was relatively popular just as Spain was; in 2005, nearly 35,000 UK citizens chose this destination.
Turning into New Zealand and the USA, these two destinations experienced similar numbers. The USA saw slightly higher numbers in 2004 and 2006 whereas New Zealand received larger numbers in 2004. Interestingly, the USA and New Zealand both had 20,000 immigrants from the UK in 2007.
