Trinh Huynh, from Vietnam, enrolled in the Master of Public Health of UAB, sharing his decision to choose this program. “I found an internship through a network of other public health professionals practicing in maternal and child health care. I spoke with experts about their project and work environment, and finally found an internship with the Help Me Grow program at UnitedWay of Alabama. Trinh’s daily role as a trainee includes receiving referrals from healthcare providers regarding the development and behavior of each child, and contacting the family to discuss how Help Me Grow and communitybased support services can help children. “I became a link between families who needed help and resources in the community,” Trinh said. “Childhood plays an important role in the success of children’s lives and I hope that is what I can continue to do as the career I have dreamed of in the future. ”
Trinh also felt that what you learned in INTO UAB’s Pathway program helped you to improve a lot during your internship. “My English classes have made me feel more confident in my communication skills, and this has helped me have more conversations with the families I work with and report to my supervisor. In INTO UAB’s Pathway Public Health program, you will attend classes in a vibrant learning environment with industry leaders and scholars representing 31 countries at one of the brightest Public Health training schools in the United States. This program is designed to help you achieve success in the Public Health Bachelor course by developing academic and professional skills while at the same time helping you improve your English ability constantly.
In addition, a compulsory internship course will equip you with the necessary skills to run for leadership positions in the public health sector. You will have support from an intern coordinator and the UAB Career Services Center to help you find the right internship for you.
