Honestly, I am a huge fan of music and definitely I spend most of my free time listening to pop music in particular. Today I would like to tell you about my all-time favorite song, whose name is “Yesterday once more” by the internationally acclaimed band: The Carpenters.

Reason: I first heard this song on the radio in a bookshop when I was just 15 years old. First, what I like most about this song is that it has a simple but meaningful flow.

Example: The song’s genre is pop, the rhythm is slow and the singer’s voice and the melody make a perfect combination. In addition, it has nostalgic lyrics, which brings back good memory from the past, for example when I was in high school having fun with my friends or when I spent a good time with my family during trips.

Reason: Second, the very sweet melody of this song helps me recharge my battery after stressful lessons at work. Actually, I am hooked every time I hear this because it is also a childhood memory.

Example: I grew up singing and listening to The Carpenters’ songs and to me, “Yesterday once more” is the best song on Earth. Listening to the song while having a bath or cooking after work is a very relaxing experience. I feel that I can let my hair down and get rid of all the stress or burden.

The song will forever be among my most favorite ones and I am sure to put it on repeat many more times!

Therefore, my parents seized the opportunity to go to Paris By Night concert, and that night was incredibly fantastic. We were over the moon.

Example: The song’s genre is bolero, a type of music in which the melody is quite slow and sweet. The meaning of the music type is often about love and passion. “Dap Vo Cay Dan” was wonderfully slow and fantastically heart-breaking. In addition, it has nostalgic and lively lyrics, which helps me to imagine the story behind the song. The love story was ultimately compassionate and warm when the male character determined to play guitar for the girl to sing. However, they soon break up since their artistic goals are not the same.

Reason: Second, the very sweet melody of this song helps me recharge my battery after stressful lessons at work. Actually I am hooked every time I heard this because it reminds me of my first trip to the USA and the first time I went to a concert.

Example: After listening to the song, I determined to find out more about “bolero”. In truth, there are thousands of bolero songs in the present, and the majority of the songs are written to celebrate the sweetness of love and the appreciation of romance.

When I am down in the dumps or see red, listening to this song always cheers me up and boosts my energy. “Dap Vo Cay Dan” will also be my favorite song when I need emotional backup.

Sau khi nghe bài hát, tôi quyết định tìm hiểu thêm về “bolero”. Trên thực tế, hiện nay có hàng ngàn bài hát bolero, và phần lớn các bài hát được viết để tôn vinh sự ngọt ngào của tình yêu và sự trân trọng của sự lãng mạn.

Khi tôi buồn bã hoặc nhìn thấy màu đỏ, nghe bài hát này luôn làm tôi vui lên và tiếp thêm năng lượng cho tôi. “Đập Vỡ Cây Đàn” cũng sẽ là bài hát yêu thích của tôi khi tôi cần niềm vui.

2.3 Phần thi IELTS Speaking Part 3

Because they always want to exert their youth power, Vietnamese youngsters choose these music genres. Moreover, pops and rock songs are often written in English, so Vietnamese teenagers always take advantage of listening to these types of music to improve their English proficiency. To conclude, young people love to listen to pop and rock for many reasons.

In my opinion, I believe there are some critical differences between enjoying music at home and at a live concert. Firstly, it is evident that live concerts always have amazingly lively vibes. These vibes make listeners excited and motivate them to react more vibrantly. However, listening to music at home also has some advantages. The most intriguing benefit is that we can enjoy the deep notes by ourselves and be more free to listen to our preferences. Although there are major differences between home and concert, people can either choose where to enjoy music based on their preferences.

Why do so many people listen to music when they are going to work/ college?

Honestly, I am not a big fan of music. However, I think that the major reason is that people want to kill time. Furthermore, they might also want to de-stress and declutter their minds before concentrating on work, so they seek in music.

Should governments subsidize less popular forms of music such as opera?

Personally, I neither agree nor disagree about this opinion. At present, many forms of music are disappearing, resulting in big cultural losses. Therefore, governments should finance money to preserve precious cultural pieces. However, monetary problems would be thorny. Understandably, governments have to spend a tremendous amount of money on training and providing assistance to preserve these heritages. Therefore, to sum up, I neither agree nor disagree about the opinion.

Many people enjoy live music because songs are catchy while singers and producers are trendy and prominent whereas CDs are usually older records prior to the digital era. In addition, it is clear that CDs require a huge amount of attendance and money to take care of. This is mainly because CDs are critically vulnerable to outer damage. Therefore, many people would prefer listening to live music to CDs.
