GLOBAL UGRAD SCHOLARSHIP 2016 FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

The Office of Information Culture (PAS) of the US Embassy in Hanoi and the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City are seeking candidates for the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD), school year 2016-2017. First-year, second-year and third-year students of Vietnamese universities, with leadership competencies reflected in their academic results, contributions to the community as well as potential and extracurricular activities. Good English can apply for the program. Application deadline: 17:00, Friday, January 1, 2016.

Overview of the program

Global UGRAD scholarship program is funded by the Department of Education and Culture of the US Department of State. In the 2016-2017 academic year, the program will provide scholarships to about 245 students from East Asia and the Pacific, Europe, the Near East and North Africa, Central and South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Western Hemisphere for one semester does not earn a degree at a university in the United States. Students will study at an accredited four-year university in the United States, if necessary, can receive additional English training, participate in community activities, career development workshops and deliveries. save culture.

In order to facilitate students to make the most of opportunities to interact and study with US teachers and students, students selected to join the Global UGRAD program will attend a regular university program. selected from the receiving school’s training program. To ensure students will succeed in a new academic environment, the receiving schools will also provide detailed and detailed instructions on how to study and write essays, critical thinking, time management, and writing , how to learn and test. Students will live in hostels with American students. This scholarship is open to all majors.

Students will have to participate in at least 20 hours of community activities in the program. Students must also enroll in at least one US course of study, such as history, literature, art, or government.

Students who do not meet the requirements of the receiving school and Global UGRAD program (poor grades, do not attend classes or submit full papers) will not be able to continue to participate in the program. Students must achieve a minimum academic score of 2.0 GPA.

Standard candidates

Candidates will be selected based on leadership, academic excellence, community contributions and extracurricular activities. The choice does not distinguish between discipline, ethnicity, religion or gender. Applicants who meet the following conditions may apply:

  • The first, second and third year college students (or fourth year for university students who have a 5-year or longer training system);
  • Completed the first year of university in August 2016;
  • At least one semester in Vietnam after completing the program in the United States;
  • Good English proficiency;
  • Excellent academic performance, the latest semester grade 7.5 or higher;
  • Actively participate in community and extracurricular activities within and outside the school..
