2. Các từ vựng trong bài thi SAT thuộc chủ đề gì?

Thông thường, từ vựng luyện thi SAT chủ yếu thuộc lĩnh vực kinh tế – một lĩnh vực khá mới mẻ và xa lạ với nhiều thí sinh. Rất có thể bạn chưa từng nghe đến những thuật ngữ chuyên ngành vừa dài, vừa khó – nhất là những ai có nền tảng học tập không liên quan đến ngành này. Một bất lợi khác với thí sinh đến từ Việt Nam đó là khó luyện tập những từ vựng về kinh tế một cách đều đặn, thường xuyên.

Tuy nhiên ngày nay, kỳ thi SAT không chỉ tập trung vào các kiến thức kinh tế mà còn mở rộng ra đa dạng lĩnh vực trong cuộc sống như:

3. Những khó khăn thường gặp khi học từ vựng luyện thi SAT

3.1 Từ vựng SAT thuộc nhiều chủ đề 

Một trong những khó khăn khi học từ vựng luyện thi SAT chính là chủ đề vô cùng đa dạng, thuộc nhiều lĩnh vực khác nhau trong cuộc sống. Vì thế, thí sinh phải học một số lượng từ khổng lồ để chuẩn bị cho kỳ thi này.

Theo kinh nghiệm luyện thi SAT của nhiều người, việc học tủ dựa trên các đề thi SAT của những kỳ thi trước chưa bao giờ là giải pháp thông minh, bạn sẽ dễ bị “tủ đè”. Thay vào đó, hãy trang bị cho mình nền tảng từ vựng luyện thi SAT từ cơ bản đến nâng cao một cách chắc chắn nhất.

Luyện từ vựng luyện thi SAT sao cho hiệu quả và nhanh chóng là điều mà mọi thí sinh đều quan tâm. Thực tế, muốn có vốn từ phong phú, bạn cần chăm chỉ luyện tập chứ không thể học tủ, học vẹt trong thời gian ngắn là được. Bên cạnh đó, bạn cũng có thể áp dụng một số mẹo sau đây:

4.1 Học cùng Flashcard

Phương pháp học tập cùng Flashcard được sử dụng phổ biến trên thế giới, mang lại hiệu quả cao trong việc học các loại ngoại ngữ chứ không riêng gì mỗi học từ vựng luyện thi SAT. Mỗi tấm card sẽ có từ vựng trên một mặt, mặt còn lại là nghĩa của từ giúp việc ghi nhớ tốt hơn. Với Flashcard, bạn có thể học mọi lúc mọi nơi khi có thời gian rảnh.

Khi sử dụng Flashcard để học từ vựng luyện thi SAT, bạn có thể ứng dụng phương pháp 8s hoặc Waterfall, cụ thể:

  • Phương pháp 8s: Bạn nhìn từ vựng mới, kết hợp phát âm và nghĩa của từ trong 8 -15 giây, áp dụng khi bạn bận rộn, không còn nhiều thời gian luyện tập hoặc sắp đến kỳ thi SAT.
  • Phương pháp Waterfall: Chia từ vựng cần học thành 2 nhóm Struggle và Know it. Sau khi học được 1 từ ở nhóm Struggle, bạn chuyển từ này sang nhóm Know it. Bạn cứ học tập đều đặn và liên tục cho đến khi các từ vựng được chuyển hết vào nhóm Know it.

4.2 Học theo nhóm hoặc từ bạn bè 

Muốn học từ vựng luyện thi SAT hiệu quả, bạn nên học theo nhóm với nhiều thành viên. Trong nhóm, mỗi thành viên làm nhiệm vụ kiểm tra từ vựng của các thành viên còn lại. Nghiêm túc học tập, rèn luyện kết hợp các quy định thưởng – phạt giúp bạn có thêm động lực để học tập hiệu quả.

Những từ vựng mới, lạ và khó luôn là thử thách cho thí sinh sắp thi SAT. Do đó, tốt nhất bạn nên lập danh sách cụ thể những từ vựng này để tập trung học nhiều hơn. Chưa kể, đây là cách giúp thí sinh làm quen với format đề thi SAT nhằm có sự chuẩn bị tốt hơn trong việc phân tích từ vựng, giải quyết tình huống hay xử lý thông tin mà bài thi yêu cầu.

Đọc sách bằng tiếng Anh không chỉ là cách học từ vựng luyện thi SAT mà còn có thể áp dụng cho mọi kỳ thi Anh ngữ khác. Có vô vàn loại sách tiếng Anh để bạn chọn đọc nhưng hãy ưu tiên những loại sách văn học kinh điển của thế giới, văn học Mỹ. Mỗi ngày, bạn nên dành từ 30 – 60 phút cho việc đọc để tăng vốn từ của mình.

5. Tổng hợp 400 từ vựng luyện thi SAT bạn cần biết

Trong SAT, số câu hỏi chuyên về từ vựng thì không nhiều. Dựa theo bản thống kê của các bài thi thử SAT, chỉ có 13% số câu hỏi của phần đọc (tầm 7 câu) hỏi về từ đồng nghĩa của từ được cho trong bài. Chúng ta gọi chúng là câu hỏi ngữ cảnh.
