The given flow chart portrays two different methods of making water suitable for home consumption. 

Overall, the first approach (Cross-section filter) involves three stages of filtration. The second solution is more straightforward as it only needs two steps and is suitable for outdoor usage. 

A closer look into the Cross-section filter reveals that untreated water is piped into a 200 litres filter set-up that is made of steel. The unit contains three conjoining filters: the first one containing sand, the second holding tiny stones, and the final one comprising many pipe holes. These differences allow a wide range of undesirable particulates to be removed as the water seeps through.

Turning into the second method, untreated water is first held up in a container. A tap then controls how water flows through a sand filter. The treated product is then pumped to a storage facility until it is needed by homes.
